On behalf of the staff, governors, children and parents, a big
welcome back from all of us here at Westwood
We are already into the swing of our teaching and learning,
having welcomed our new Reception children, who are all enjoying themselves.
This week they join us full time and we have been so impressed with how quickly
they have settled.
If you know of anyone who has children starting next September,
we will be holding our Open Morning on
Tuesday 27th September from 9am - 12pm.
This is an open invitation for prospective parents to come along and see the
school in action.
As a school we are proud to be innovative in our teaching and
learning. I am delighted to announce that we have secured funding to develop
Westwood Radio, an online radio station run by the children for our community.
Watch this space for how you can get involved!
We have also recently learnt that we have been shortlisted for
a Tesco Bags of Help Grant to develop our school field for healthy and exciting
play. Please vote for our project in your local Tesco store from 26th September
to secure our funding!

Friends of Westwood School (FoWS)
Hello from the FoWs team. We will again soon be planning our fundraising events for this new school academic year.
We are so grateful for all the support given from people in the village; those who donate money to school, families and friends who are members of our 100 Club and also those who have supported us by helping at and attending our events.
We will be holding our AGM on Tuesday 4th October, 8pm at Westwood with Iford School, including refreshments! Anyone who would like to come along/get involved, are more than welcome.
Please continue to support us in raising money for our school.

Westwood School News
Hello again from Westwood school! So much has taken place since I last wrote, including a fabulous Sports Day, children representing our school at the opening ceremony of the Marlborough games and a day of live broadcasting. Everyone was involved and showed such confidence, which was super. You can listen to our weekly episodes at westwoodwithiford.org/podcast.
Academically, you may be aware of our successful Ofsted inspection that took place recently. We continue to be graded as Good. Furthermore, our Year 2 and Year 6 children have made us so proud with their commitment, hard work and attitude to learning that resulted in their deservedly strong outcome in their SATs.
Sadly, we are saying goodbye at the end of term to our wonderful Year 6 children and also to two long serving members of staff. Ann Cook and Sue Purkiss have been with us for 18 and 16 years repectively and will be retiring in July. I am sure you will join me in wishing them both a relaxing retirement and an enormous thank you for their significant, caring and committed contribution to our school community over the years.
Have a great summer everyone!
