Westwood with Iford School News

A big hello again from us all at Westwood with Iford Primary School. We are very much back in to the excitement of a new term, having welcomed our new reception entrants who have settled wonderfully well.

The year has already got off to a fantastic start with an exciting project planned that, we hope, will involve as many members of the Westwood Community as possible. The Westwood Oral History project will focus on understanding and sharing the rich heritage of the village and local community. We would like to bring members of the community together to share their life memories and experiences of living, schooling and working in Westwood over time which will be digitally recorded and preserved to share now and for years to come through interviews and live broadcasts with our pupils.

Watch this space for further information but if you are interested in taking part in this project, either with a story to tell or as a volunteer transcriber, please contact the school.

We are also looking for members of our community to join our governing body this year. Please contact the school office on 862408 if you are interested     Ian Rockey  Head teacher

Westwood with Iford School News

Hello again from Westwood school and it's hard to believe that we're at the end of another academic year already. So much has taken place since I last wrote, including a fabulous Sports Day, two nights of first class entertainment from our older children performing Shakespeare Rocks and our Summer Fair. Thank you all so very much for supporting our school once again. We are lucky to live and work within such a wonderful community.

Academically, our Year 2 and Year 6 children have again made us proud with their commitment, hard work and attitude to learning that resulted in their deservedly strong outcomes in their SATs and everyone throughout the school has had so many diverse and exciting learning opportunities this year, it has been a joy to see.

Sadly, we are saying goodbye at the end of term to our wonderful Year 6 children and we wish them all every success in their new schools.

Finally, if you would like to be a governor at our successful school, please contact us via the school website www.westwoodwithiford.org. We would very much welcome additional members to our governing body.

Have a great summer everyone!     Ian Rockey  Head teacher
