Westwood School

A big hello again from us all at Westwood with Iford Primary School. I do hope you all had a wonderful summer. We are very much back in to the excitement of a new term, having welcomed our new reception entrants, who have settled so well.

The year has already got off to a fantastic start with everyone enjoying their exciting new topics and working hard. I am delighted to let you know that we are continuing our hugely successful Oral History project, which was so much fun last year. Once again we will focus on understanding and sharing the rich heritage of the village and local community and we will be looking for members of the local and wider community to share their life memories and experiences of living, schooling and working in Westwood over time, through interviews and live broadcasts with our pupils.

If you are interested in taking part in this project, either with a story to tell or as a volunteer transcriber, please contact the school.

We are also looking for members of our community to join our dynamic and supportive governing body this year. Please contact the school office if you are interested.

Westwood Football Club - update.
The first game of the season was cancelled by the opposition due to lack of players, and the second game ended in an away defeat to a very good Bath side, but our players remain confident they can turn their fortunes around when all players are available.

If there are any footballers but there that are looking for a game, then please call Derek Downes on 07976 827488.

 Westwood School Jul 2018

Hello again from Westwood school and it’s hard to believe that we’re at the end of another academic year already. So much has taken place since I last wrote, including a fabulous Sports Day, two nights of first class entertainment from our older children performing Rock Bottom, our Oral History Project gaining pace and our Summer Fair. Thank you all so very much for supporting our school once again.

Academically, our Year 2 & Year 6 children have again made us proud with their commitment, hard work and attitude to learning that resulted in their deservedly strong outcomes in their SATs and everyone throughout the school has had so many exciting learning opportunities this year, it has been a joy to see.

Sadly, we are saying goodbye at the end of term to our wonderful Year 6 children and we wish them all every success in their new schools. We will miss them all!

Finally, if you would like to be a governor at our successful school, please contact us via the school website www.westwoodwithiford.org. We would very much welcome additional members to our governing body.

Have a great summer everyone!  Ian Rockey  Head teacher
