Westwood United F C

Westwood United F C end to this season saw our boys lose, win and draw putting them in a final position of fourth place which for a first season together, remembering some of the lads had never played competitive football before, deserves a lot of credit, not only for the players but for the management duo of Tom Downes and Martin Cowdrey in fielding a team week in week out regardless of who dropped out on a Saturday night and even Sunday morning!  But the spirit amongst the squad was excellent throughout the season and all the players are looking forward to next season....so bring it on!

Westwood United FC ....update.

Due to the adverse weather conditions Westwood have only played two league matches since before Xmas, losing both to excellent experienced clubs, the first from Keynsham who added several new signings and who now head the league, and the second to Odd Down FC from Bath, the score 3-2, and excellent effort from our lads but this put the home side into second position. The fixture against Claverton from Bath on March 6th had to be cancelled at the last minute due to illness and work committments, which left us forfeighting all the points.

With only a couple of games left, one at home, the boys are keen to secure more points to push them back up the league in search of a promotion push.

Westwood United Football Club News February 2016

The bad weather put paid to many league and cup games over the festive period that only one was played and won by Westwood, which still leaves them at the top of their division, but the lads are dying to get playing again to prepare themselves for the final push to league or cup glory.

In fact, managers Tom Downes and Martin Cowdrey have been busy and signed two experienced players in Jason Povey and Matthew Gittins to help them acheive just that, so everyone cannot wait to get playing again.

The Christmas dance at the social club was a huge success with everyone enjoying themselves and much needed funds were raised, so many thanks to all who helped and attended, and further dances / parties are being planned.
